How to Join the Philippine Army

Being a soldier is a noble way of serving our motherland. If you want to become a soldier, now is your chance to be an enlisted personnel or officer of the Philippine Army.

Recently, the Civil Relations Service of the Philippine Army had announced about the need for almost 3,500 army personnel to fill up its forces. The additional army personnel will help for the ongoing and continuous campaign against lawless elements and terrorists.

Basic requirements for the Officer Candidate Course

This is one of the options in joining the Philippine Army through the Officer Candidate Course or OCC. Here are the basic requirements to accomplish:

  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree
  • A natural-born Filipino
  • Between 21 to 29 years old upon admission
  • Single/never been married, have never been gave birth to a child
  • Not less than 5 ft in height (male and female) and not over 6’4”
  • Physically, psychologically, and mentally fit to join the military service
  • Must pass the AFP Service Aptitude Test with the passing score of 71
  • Must pass other qualifying written examinations such as the Special Written Exam and the Army Qualifying Exam
  • Must pass the physical fitness test and physical medical exam conducted by the Philippine Army Officer Selection Committee

Basic Requirements for Candidate Soldier Course

  • A bonafide Filipino citizen
  • Have earned 72 units in college or must possess technical skills, if high school graduate
  • Between 18 to 23 years of age prior to admission
  • 5 feet for both male and female
  • Single
  • Of good moral character
  • Have earned at least 45 score in the AFPSAT
  • Must pass the pre-qualifying PFT or Physical Fitness test and PME or Physical medical exam
  • Mentally and physically fit to undergo rigorous military training

AFP Service Aptitude Test requirements

Before you can join the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the first step is to take the AFPSAT conducted by the Army Recruitment Office. The aspirant must prepare and bring the documents listed below:

  • Original college diploma
  • Original Form 137/Transcript of Records
  • Original PSA birth certificate
  • 2×2 photo
  • Valid ID
