This Malaysian graphic designer left her job to be a farmer.
When we were young, our parents always asked us what we would want to become when we get old. Top of the list is becoming a doctor, an engineer, a president, an astronaut, and among others. As a kid, we’re dreaming with the sky is the limit and we are just so blessed to have parents who are very supportive. But for this particular lady from Malaysia, she chose to left her job as a graphic designer and pursue a humble dream, to be a farmer.

Nuraishah Shamsuddin, a 27-year-old Malay who works as a graphic designer decided to quit her job and pursue her hobby of becoming a farmer.
She recalled that she used to tag along with her late grandfather to his fruit farm and palm oil plantation every morning and every night, to his father’s goat pen. According to her, she learned to plant vegetables through watching “Do It Yourself” videos on YouTube, through reading and her past experiences. She finished her master’s degree in History of Arts and Cultural Management at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Shah Alam, Malaysia.
“I was tired with the hustle and bustle of KL lifestyles,” she said.

Like some of us who are tired of the hustle and bustle of the city, the freelance graphic designer decided to left her city life to free her mind and focused on what’s important, living her life to the fullest by pursuing her simple dream.
On her Twitter account, she recently shared a very inspiring post. She stated:
“7months ago I ditch my designer career, go back home and live a simple life. I’m 27, I have no debt, I drive Perodua, I live with my mak (mother) and a cat, Copot. I go to kebun (the garden) every morning till noon, I sell organic veggies for a living. Less is more. I’m happy with my current life.”

According to SAYS, she wanted to start a farm business using the piece of land she owned.
“I have never felt this free in my life. No deadlines, nobody to please. I am blessed for having a piece of land to do what I love the most,” she said.

“It’s my hobby…I started farming. Most of the veggies are from my organic kebun. I reap what I sow, i feed my family and others family with healthy vegetables. I am proud of what I’m doing to this world,” she added.

Initially, she just wanted to put up an orchard so she planted fruit trees. She then ventured on planting different kinds of local and international vegetables and fruits such as mulberries, avocados, spinach, kale, eggplant, lettuce, and other varieties while waiting for the trees to grow.

Many got inspired by her decision on social media. She was also praised for being so brave in pursuing her simple dream even if it cost her current job.
