Tsunami in Indonesia Leaves More Than a Thousand Damaged

A powerful intensity 7.5 earthquake hit Indonesia on Friday. The epicenter was on the Sulawesi Island which is around fifty miles of North Palu but the tsunami hit Palu the hardest and in thirty minutes a huge tsunami followed, reaching about 18 feet high. This resulted in the destruction of houses, buildings, vehicles and worst, killing a thousand people as of today, October 1, 2018.

This video footage showing the waves crushing the houses is so devastating to see. You can even see a woman carrying a baby in her arms as she was trying to run away from the waves of water approaching and crushing everything it pass through. The water was also seen destroying the houses. You can see the fear in the eyes of the residents as they were looking at the waves of water destroying everything around them.

It was such a pity looking at them not knowing where to go and you can feel them even if you are not in their situation. They seemed torn between staying near their houses and running away to a safer ground. It was also reported that several inmates were able to escape after the walls of the prison collapsed leaving behind only less than 50% of inmates.

Watching this video will make you realize that when the wrath of nature hits you, there’s really nothing anyone can do. You can never be prepared nor will you be able to control it. All you can do is watch in disbelief as it destroys all your material possessions and many times, even claiming the lives of your loved ones. No matter what your status in life is, when nature’s disaster like this happens, all you can do is watch how everything gets destroyed. Nowadays, natural calamities come one after the other and we can’t seem to do anything about it but pray that we pass through it.
